Originally, this ring was commissioned in the mid 1980's. The client wanted a ring in the Egyptian style of Cleopatra and the added feature of a secret compartment that Cleo used to store poison within her ring.
The ring is surrounded by Blue Sapphires, Rubies and pale green Tsavorite Garnets. The center is an authentic petrified beetle, which influenced Aatlo's choice of accent gems.
A knob at the top of the ring contains a round, full cut Diamond, and turns to reveal the underside of where the scarab sits. Normally, a "well" would be built into the piece to secure the poison and you can see a "scoop" is included in the design to do just that.
Although this ring has been previously owned, it is in excellent condition and the 18k gold setting is substantial.
8 square cut Rubies: approximately 1.12 carats.
3 square cut Blue Sapphires, approximately .66 carats.
4 round Tsavorites, approximately .52 carats.
I Round Full Cut Diamond, approximately .15 carats.
